چکیده

Abstract Phase-sensitive optical time domain reflectometry (?-OTDR) is an effective way to detect vibrations and acoustic waves with high sensitivity, by interrogating coherent Rayleigh backscattering light in sensing fiber. In particular, fiber-optic distributed (DAS) based on the ?-OTDR phase demodulation has been extensively studied widely used intrusion detection, borehole seismic acquisition, structure health monitoring, etc., recent years, superior advantages such as long range, fast response speed, wide bandwidth, low operation cost service lifetime. Significant advances research development (R&D) of have made since 2014. this review, we present a historical review then summarize progress Fiber Optics Research Center (FORC) at University Electronic Science Technology China (UESTC), which first group carry out R&D invent ultra-sensitive DAS (uDAS) seismometer elected one ten most significant technology PetroChina 2019. It can be seen that ?-OTDR/DAS currently under its rapid stage would reach climax next 5 years.

Optimal detection bandwidth for phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry

The spectrum of the temporal traces obtained from a phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometer is theoretically and experimentally analysed, demonstrating its dependence on the incident optical pulse shape. Numerical simulations and theoretical results are validated experimentally, showing a good matching for rectangular optical pulses. The influence of the photodetector bandwidth on the...

Temperature-strain discrimination in distributed optical fiber sensing using phase-sensitive optical time-domain reflectometry.

A method based on coherent Rayleigh scattering distinctly evaluating temperature and strain is proposed and experimentally demonstrated for distributed optical fiber sensing. Combining conventional phase-sensitive optical time-domain domain reflectometry (ϕOTDR) and ϕOTDR-based birefringence measurements, independent distributed temperature and strain profiles are obtained along a polarization-...

Train Detection and Tracking in Optical Time Domain Reflectometry (OTDR) Signals

We propose a novel method for the detection of vibrations caused by trains in an optical fiber buried nearby the railway track. Using optical time-domain reflectometry vibrations in the ground caused by different sources can be detected with high accuracy in time and space. While several algorithms have been proposed in the literature for train tracking using OTDR signals they have not been tes...

The Application of Hadamard Matrixes in the SNR Enhancement of Optical Time-Domain Reflectometry(OTDR)

Results in one field necessarily give insight into the others, and all have much potential for scientific and technological application. The Hadamard-transform technique once been applied to the spectrometry also has its use in the SNR Enhancement of OTDR. In this report, a new set of code (Simplex-codes) is discussed and where the addition gain of SNR come from is implied. Keywords—Hadamard-tr...
